It’s safe to say that Leah is the only member of the KE staff who used to be a nursery assistant (babies, not plants)! A holder of a Level-4 diploma, Leah trained at college for three years and subsequently spent four years employed in a local nursery before deciding to take a six-month work hiatus to do something for herself. After a trip to Marrakech for a huge change of scene, as well as several road trips throughout the UK, Leah wanted to get back into regular employment, but felt the need to do something completely different.
Leah discovered KE through Indeed and she hasn’t looked back! Initially performing regular administration duties such as doing time cards for the team, her enthusiasm and motivation to develop her skills have led her to becoming involved in many other aspects of KE’s daily work. Her hands-on approach has seen her honing her skills in our factory, shadowing our fabricators and having a go herself where safety guidelines permit. If she’s going to be giving customers quotes for a job, she needs to see for herself how long the different processes are going to take, after all!
One of three women at KE, this doesn’t make any difference to Leah. She enjoys mixing with the guys and being part of a family business, and she says it’s great to be able to look forward to coming into work every day. “Everyone is so nice”, she notes. She particularly enjoys the atmosphere at work, which she describes as professional yet relaxed, as well as understanding. There’s no such thing as a typical day at KE, which suits Leah down to the ground, as she enjoys being busy and keeping things varied and interesting. She’s really enjoyed learning new skills with us, be it in the office, in the workshop or off the premises, where she’s done a first-aid course, among other things.
When she’s not at work, Leah can be found proudly parading her pooch! She loves long walks with her dachshund, Poppy, and enjoys spending time seeing her friends and just relaxing after a busy working week keeping us all organised and smiling! She is keen to do more road trips too. There’s plenty more to discover!
As for the future, Leah says she wants to stay with us for a long time to come. The feeling is definitely mutual! Our office is a brighter place with Leah around.
